Bok Bok App (Clucking Good Fun)

A good friend of mine has just launched a new app called BokBok on itunes and my unbiased review is 'Bloody Brilliant'

Bok Bok is a game for 2-22 player, the basic premise is to spin 2 category wheels and then name a corresponding answer: For example, name a BAND with an ANIMAL in the name, players then take it in turns to guess and stop the clock when they get one e.g The Eagles, The Beatles, Cat Stevens....

Far more comprehensive rules can be seen HERE

It's amazing to play in the pub with friends and can easily be used as a drinking game or as a challenge to decide who's round it is.

Literally hours of fun for just 69p

It's the first iphone app I've had that can genuinely be used as a group activity, rather than just staring at a screen on your own and will definitely be replace charades as the post dinner family game this Christmas in the Ramart household.

So if you're wondering what to use your itunes vouchers you recieved for christmas on, look no further.

Learn more about the app at the Official Site and download it HERE

Merry Christmas and a Clucking Happy New year

Free Art Friday - Derbyshire (Free Cash)

Having just stumbled upon the movement that is 'Free Art Friday' HERE and realising that the rural areas might be missing out I've decided to try and redress the balance starting this Friday (9th November 2012) with some localised drops to see what the reactions are.

I've created a brand new multilayer stencil for the occasion Johnny Cash and a new material, old vinyl records, that I've spray painted using my usual stencil technique.

As a fan of a poor pun, I was originally just going to do a set of Johnny Cash and basically leaving 'Free Cash....

but then I got carried away and made a few others:

Each one is numbered on the reverse..

So next week, Friday 09/11/12 I will set about leaving quite a few bits and pieces throughout the Derbyshire dales, I hope they find nice homes.. keep your eyes out...

I'll post location shots as soon as they are located, follow ramart79 on instagram or twitter (@ramart79) for live updates on dropday, also..

Keep Calm and Chive On KCCO (How to)

If you're on the internet, which you clearly are, you may have come across the website known as the Chive, a blog collection of amusing, inspirational, random and generally time consuming images.

They hold Bill Murray in very high regard (which is never a bad thing) and created their own mashup of Shepard Fairey's 'Hope' and 'Obey' posters to create a Bill Murray 'Laugh' print, despite many failed attempts to purchase a print I opted to create my own canvas of the piece with stencils and spray-paint.

They have also got their own take on the 'Keep Calm' signs, which are insanely popular on their t-shirts and sell out in minutes.

I decided to make my own canvas version of this as well, so thought I'd stick down the steps here if you were feeling creative.

What you will need:

Cutting Implement - I Use an Xacto handle with no.11 blades

Cutting Mat - Saves your surfaces suffering slices

Card - I Use 210gsm card

Paint - I'm using 'Valley Green' Montana Hardcore (gloss) and White MTN94 (Matt)

Mask - Safety First

Patience - It may take some time to cut

Weights - I use coins to weigh down the stencil, others use spray mount glue, but coins, nuts and bolts work for me

Step 1 - Spray your canvas background

Step 2 - Get Cutting

While that's drying you can get to the cutting mat, print out the chosen lettering/logo either directly onto card (if you have a nice large printer) or print onto paper and stick onto your card...Cut out letters (Make sure you keep the 'islands' which are the insides of the letters, you'll need them later)

The crown logo also needs the inside details cutting out, so that detail can be added.

Step 3 - Admire your stencil creation, place against a dark background to see how it will look, if you've gone wrong there's nothing that a piece of masking tape and a recut can't fix.

Step 4 - Prep for spraying

Line up stencil on canvas, weigh down edges of each letter to reduce underspray and cover any part of the canvas that you don't want to paint, to reduce overspray.

Place islands back inside relevant letters and weigh down.

Step 5 - Spray Away

Shake can for at least 1 minute.

For best results hold can about 12 inches away from canvas and spray sparingly, better to do several light layers and leave a few minutes in between to dry rather than clagging it up and risking seepage.

Step 6 - Remove stencil to see how it's gone

Step 7 - Once Dry place back the crown logo that was previously cut, to add the detail with the green paint.

Step 8 - Stick on a wall and feel like you've created something

Step 9 - KCCO!

Ramart on Tour - Thornbridge Hall 1st July 2012

Now the Euro’s are underway, I can stop staring at spreadsheets and pick up some spray cans again, and there’s 2 weeks of furious cutting and spraying ahead as I’m going to be standing a Ramart stall at the annual Thornbridge summer garden party on 1st July.

For those who don’t know, Thornbridge are a local brewery and creators of very fine ales indeed, not to mention having an inspirational business model based on

‘Innovation. Passion. Knowledge’ their annual garden party is an open house at the magnificent ‘Thornbridge Hall’ near Bakewell in Derbyshire (see flyer below)

So if you’re in the Derbyshire area on 1st July, fancy a beer and some discounted handmade artwork then head over and say hello.
